Efficient label production
BOGRAMA AG relies on precise and efficient sheet material processing with the proven rotary die-cutter BSR 550 Servo and the new robotic delivery Robot Delivery RBA 550.
While the die-cutter punches a wide variety of sheet materials – in this case, record labels – at high speed and with great precision, the Robot Delivery RBA 550 ensures precise and dynamic pick-and-place handling. The punched labels are deposited in two independently usable cassettes: while one cassette is being filled, the other can be emptied. This ensures that the production process remains uninterrupted.
Parkem supported BOGRAMA in the development of the pick-and-place handling. For cost reasons, a classic robot was out of the question. The goal was a cost-effective system that could achieve the required high dynamics using linear axes. This is because the pick-and-place process takes place during production. While the labels are being transported on a conveyor belt, the gripper picks the labels using an XY-axis system with the “flying saw” function, places them in the cassette and then synchronizes itself again with the conveyor belt for the next picking process.
On the basis of the cycle times and loads, Parkem carried out the drive and axis designs, including a service life assessment. BOGRAMA used the determined values, such as rated and peak torque, speed and gear ratios, directly for the selection of its own servo drives.
Unimotion's MTJ-65 belt axes are the best choice for the XY axis system. They are very attractively priced and, in combination with the servo drive, represent a more economical alternative to the classic articulated arm robot. Added to this are the high traversing speed and dynamics, which guarantee an optimized cycle and thus high productivity.
