Precise Dynamics Every Second in Wire Welding

Maximum Flexibility in Welding Wire Mesh

Schlatter Industries AG develops and manufactures specialized welding systems for wire and mesh processing in Switzerland. The successful POSIWELD series enables a wide variety of wire geometries to be welded with high precision and cost-effectiveness. In practice, this is used, for example, to produce components for shopping carts, three-dimensional wire baskets, merchandise and sales displays, fan grilles, grids and baskets for household appliances, as well as components for cable trays. To ensure reliable operation, the welding electrodes must be precisely positioned and perfectly synchronized in the shortest possible time.

This is exactly where Parkem’s drive solutions come into play. For each system, four ETH electric cylinders and the KEBA KeTop T155 mobile handheld control unit ensure precise movements, short cycle times, and convenient operation.

A welding operation takes—depending on the wire diameter—only about one to one and a half seconds. Depending on the material thickness, this generates pressing forces of 5 to 10 kN. Different machine configurations also enable rotational movements of up to 360°, thereby offering maximum flexibility for a wide variety of welding applications.

More Compact Design Thanks to Servo-Electric Drive Technology

The current POSIWELD is already the fourth generation of the machine and the result of continuous development over more than 30 years. While earlier systems relied on a large central structure, today four ETH electric cylinders handle all movements of the welding units.

Two ETH050 and two ETH080 electric cylinders each move the anode and cathode quickly, precisely, and in sync. This has made it possible to design the entire mechanical system in a significantly more compact manner. At the same time, users benefit from greater dynamics, increased flexibility, and shorter cycle times.

Tried-and-True Components from Parkem

For several generations of machines, Schlatter Industries AG has relied on components from Parkem for the POSIWELD system. The combination of ETH electric cylinders and the mobile KEBA HMI KeTop T155 has proven itself in daily use and is therefore also being used in other systems.

The ETH electric cylinders impress with their high dynamics, compact design, and robustness—ideal prerequisites for demanding welding processes.
The KEBA KeTop T155 mobile handheld control unit is used for setting up and operating the system. Machine operators particularly appreciated the ergonomic design and the central rotary control, which enable intuitive and comfortable operation.

The Result

With the current generation of POSIWELD machines, Schlatter Industries AG combines a compact machine design with high dynamics and maximum flexibility. Parkem’s servo-electric drive solutions enable fast and precise motion sequences, thereby making a significant contribution to a cost-effective and reliable welding process.

The long-standing partnership between Schlatter Industries AG and Parkem demonstrates that high-performance components and a collaborative partnership continue to prove their worth over many generations of machines.
