Automated production of drinking bottles
Sigg Switzerland Bottles AG, known for its high-quality drinking bottles, has optimized and automated its production processes in order to meet the increasing demands of the market. In collaboration with Staedler Automation AG, a modern production line has been developed that processes a variety of drinking bottles in different lengths, colors and diameters.
Staedler Automation AG is an experienced special machine manufacturer and develops customized solutions for complex production requirements. Their expertise was crucial to the successful implementation of this project.
Previously, the crimping process (bending the upper edge of the bottle neck) was carried out manually, which was time-consuming and labor-intensive. The aim of the new system was to automate this process in order to speed up production and correspondingly increase cycle times due to the constantly growing demand.
This is where Parkem comes into play: the centerpiece of the system is the 14kN ecoPRESS servo press, which can be used for a wide range of forming processes and is used here specifically for crimping the bottles.
The use of the ecoPRESS has significantly increased production speed and therefore efficiency and ensures consistently high bottle quality. It also offers a high degree of flexibility in processing different lengths and diameters. Thanks to stored recipes that are parameterized for the different sizes, the production system does not have to be set up or changed over manually. Up to 14,400 bottles (30 bottles per minute) can now be processed fully automatically per shift. This is an increase of around 2,400 bottles compared to the previous manual production with four employees.
The decision to automate and use the ecoPRESS shows how important innovative technologies are in order to meet the challenges of the market. Sigg Switzerland Bottles AG is therefore ideally equipped to continue supplying high-quality drinking bottles for the next hike.
